I know you're probably tired of hearing about our constant baby naming dilemmas, so Brandon and I have decided on a solution: We're leaving it up to you! We've narrowed it down to two first names and two middle names, and we both like them all equally. So we thought it might be fun to take a poll for the month of July and whatever the winner is on August 1st will be the name of our son!
Our first name choices are Barrett and Brady, and the middle name choices are Allen and Gantt. Barrett & Brady are really just names we both liked a lot, neither has a great meaning to it or anything.
Allen comes from some good friends of ours, Luke & Ashley Allen, who we love and respect very much. It also is the middle name of one of our favorite friends, Milo (aka Richard Muske), who we also completely love & admire.
Gantt is Brandon's middle name, which is also his mothers maiden name. Sydney has my middle name, so we thought it might be neat to allow our son to have Brandon's.

Well, it looks like Brady might win, but I love our son's name (Barrett). We call him Bear (which is a little different, I know). When we told my brother that we were naming our child Bear he told us that we'd probably have a scrawny baby. True to form, Bear was born a few weeks early at 5 pounds. I found out after we named him, that Barrett means "strength of a bear." Our growing boy is strong and healthy, and he might not have bear-strength, but like I sing to him, "...little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong."
Both names are great. He'll be here before you know it!

I love middle names that honor people. Gantt is awesome. I love Brady, but really you can't go wrong with either! So helpfull, I know! I hope you are doing well!

Hi Anonymous, who I believe is the same person whose comment I already once deleted. I get your point of view. If you don't agree with the way The Skaggs Family does things, then don't read The Skaggs Family blog! It would hurt my feelings a lot less for you to just not visit my page, rather than for you to take your time to leave comments criticizing me and my husband for the choices we make. We thought this would be a fun way to let our loved ones get just a little bit more involved in our families life, and I think it's awfully arrogant to assume that your negative point of view had any reason to be shared here. Sorry if this comes across as rude, but you hurt my feelings, and this is my blog. So there.
Sara, this is so much fun! I bet Brandon was disappointed that Barrington wasn't in the running.
OK :) Big person on name meanings, as I believe we are speaking it over our children whenever we call them. :)
That being said, Barrett means three different things in different languages, "dispute or argument", "Bear-strength" and "Cap"
Brady (my fave of the two) means "Son of Bradach" (which means "Large Chested")
All that to say, I add my vote to "Brady Gantt". :)

My newest nephew (due in September) will be named Brady too and it was what we were going to name our last child, but as it turns out, she was a girl!
I am tossed up. I like Barrett for the first name. But Brady goes better when you say it with Sydney name. I say go with gantt for the middle name that way this stays tradition.
