Let's take a vote, shall we??!!

I tend to be a fairly fickle person. My moods, my wants, my ideas, all seem to change with the wind. Well, my hair style is no exception. I yearn and yearn for long hair while it's short, so I start growing it out. Then after about a year, I'm sick and tired of it. So I cut it all off, totally love it, and then begin to yearn and yearn for long hair again.
So, I decided to take a little vote, and see what the overall concensus is on my hair. Brandon really offers no help at all. He says he likes it either way, but that his favorite was a short, spiky 'do I had in college. But not just the cut, he wants the red, chunky highlights I had in college too. No dice. This old mom can't pull off the rock star hair anymore.

First, the pros and cons:

Pros of short hair:
1) I have to actually fix it in order to look even remotely presentable - forcing me to put at least a little effort into my appearance. Never too bad of an idea...

Cons of short hair:
1) I have to actually fix it in order to look even remotely presentable. Darn it.

2) Increased frequency of hair cuts. I'm not going to lie to you, it's been months since I went to get a haircut. My mom did a quick trim across the bottom 5 weeks ago - does that count??

Pros of long hair:
1) PONYTAILS!
2) I can shower at night and still be able to "fix" my hair the next morning. Nothin' a little Chi Iron can't help.
3) If i let it grow for a few more inches, I can donate it.

Cons of long hair:
1) Ponytails. I seem to fall back on this unflattering option all too often.
2) I have to take a shower at night because it takes TOO DARN LONG to blow dry this crazy mess! I'm not willing to sacrifice my precious sleep in order to blow-dry my hair. Thus resulting in the ponytail.
3) I'd have to let it grow out quite a few more inches in order to donate it.

OK, as I look back over this list I realize it wasn't exactly helpful. Let's look at pictures to finalize this vote. By the way, I am currently in Houston, so I don't have a wide selection on pictures to choose from. Otherwise I definitely would have picked more flattering choices...

We've got fairly recent long hair pictures:

And then we've got fairly old short hair pictures:

And try not to let the tan face vs. white face and fat face vs. thin face sway you. Apparently I go from one to the other with little effort.

So, what do ya'll think?!!

my vote is let it grow. You have already waited this long and I know you really want to donate it. Plus I love the second picture where you hair is a little past your shoulders it looks sooooooo cute. PS..... if you don't want to pay for the highlights you can always do it yourself. I haven't paid in forever as my sister always does mine and it looks just as good as shelling out all the money to a salon.

I really love this post because its as if I wrote it myself! However, I do know that I want mine to grow back out. Fortunately you seem to look cute whichever way. I just personally love the choices I have when I have longer hair. Just my 2 cents....

Hmmmm...I like it long. It's very flattering. Thanks for giving us all the info so that we were able to make a more informed decision. :)

I think I like it long better as well although B (it feels so weird for me to call him Brandon! Ha!) is right, you do look really cute both ways! I would say grow it out at least long enough to donate it. Did you know that Pantene will take it at 8 inches for women with cancer as opposed to locks of love at 10 inches? Granted lol is for children with cancer but women need wigs too. That might make it easier! I do the same thing and I think I'm about to go get a side bang put in just to change it up without chopping it off because I still have a ways to go before I can donate and I love doing that!

I am going with long as well. I know I wish mine was long right about now becuase when it is short and you don't have time to fix it, it looks awful, as opposed to it being long, at least you can pull it up!!! Also it looks really cute long. Very flattering!!!! You should give me a call since you are in Houston we could play one day.

I like it best in the first two pics...but you are knock-out gorgeous no matter what--even in a ponytail!

Hey Sara! It's Sarah Werley... I haven't talked to you or seen you in forever but I secretly read your blog! :) haha, anyway.. just wanted to tell you that if you do anything chemically to your hair they won't accept the donation! I wanted to donate mine recently and I am not able to because I highlight it. So, just FYI, you have to leave it alone if you want to donate! Take care of yourself and that beautiful family!

oh my! i can tell i'm going to be about as much help as b! since i'm the most indecisive person i know when it comes to my own hair! :-)

i've always loved your hair, sara! i really like it long...but i agree with b that it looks great both ways.

i've never liked my own hair short, but i recently cut it really short and i love it! i think the difference is that i got an actual style and i've learned a new perk with short hair. with this particular style, i only have to actually "do" it every other day!! the second day hair is really not bad at all with this style...just something else to consider.

i do think you should wait and donate though if you do go short! :-)

LONG

You should wait and grow it out so that it's long enough to donate. THEN you should cut it shorter than you have it in any of those pics. You know, the kind where you need a bobby pin... :)

Long and layered. I mean LOOONG. Having a baby and cutting it all off is so the "mom-thing" to do.
REBEL.
DO NOT CONFORM.
Say:"TAKE THAT SOCIETY WITH YOUR MOM-HAIR CUTS."

The put a blonde streak down the middle and start piercing things on your face.

Then we'll talk tatoos.

But seriously, back to the hair, it should be long.

I have to go with the general consensus and say long...and agree with the comment about the "mom hair!" =)

I decided long before I read all the comments... I have mine long now and love it and it is so much easier to take care of. Of course, mine isn't as long as you are talking about...

BTW... I love all your posts.

You're beautiful either way - seriously - but after being reminded of the shorter hair I think it was a very nice length for you. I am however a huge fan of longer hair for ponytail purposes. If you were planning to donate it wait it out. It's a fun thing to do and it gives you an excuse for having ponytails!

So many people with opinions on your hair! :) I say whatever you want (thats what you'll be most happy with right!?) :)

I'm like you, I want short hair, so I cut it, then the next day I want it long again. I like it both ways!
